November is National Novel Writing Month

Writers rejoice! is the site for you.  On November 1 participants begin working towards the goal of writing a 50,000 word novel, by 11:59 pm on November 30th.  It is for anyone who has ever thought about writing a novel.  You will get pep talks, inspirational letters, written by well-known authors.  This year’s Pep Talkers are Jim Butcher, Kami Garcia, Tamora Pierce, Veronica Roth, Brandon Sanderson and Chuck Wendig.  There are forums to help you along the way, web badges, special offers from sponsors and in January/February they will take writers to the next level: revision and the publishing process.  To sign up go to and free your inner story!

Diana Gabaldon Fans

Outlander is going to be a new TV series on Starz.  It premieres on Saturday, August 9th at 9:00 pm ET.  The episode titles are:  August 9th “Sassenach,” August 16th “Castle Leoch,” August 23rd “The Way Out’ and August 30th “The Gathering.”

A New Thriller Debuts This Summer on Fox TV

It is called Wayward Pines  and it is about a Secret Service agent, played by Matt Dillon, who goes to Wayward Pines, Idaho in search of  two missing federal agents.  Wayward Pines seems like a perfect American town but no one ever leaves there and there is no contact with the outside world….The program is based on the novel Pines by Blake Crouch and  directed by M. Night Shyamalan.

Where have all the people gone?

Can life go on, when a bizarre global phenomenon causes the disappearance of friends, neighbors, colleagues and loved ones?  That is the premise of the new HBO series The Leftovers scheduled to premiere on June 15th.  It is based on the novel The Leftovers by Tom Perrotta, for those who can’t wait to find out what’s going on.
